L J English - Japanese Folk Singer
L G English is quite literally the worlds only British singer of Japanese Enka!
Enka (演歌) is a music genre from Japan that's considered to resemble traditional Japanese music stylistically. We're very excited and happy to have L G English performing at Japan Fest!

SHAO DOW
We are honoured to announce that SHAO DOW, a skilled musician that focuses on rapping in English and some Japanese, will be attending. He combines the two languages and weaves stories together from the perspective of different anime characters. Shao won the AIM award for hardest working artist, appeared on Ninja Warrior, has created a headphone brand and an independent Manga (Japanese style comic) and was also invited to speak at Parliament.

AKI - Koto
The koto, also called kin, long Japanese board zither having 13 silk strings and movable bridges. The body of the instrument is made of paulownia wood and is about 190 cm (74 inches) long.
It has a very unique sound and is one of the oldest traditional Japanese Instruments. This performance is one that will remain in your memory for a long time after the event, it's a performance you very rarely get to see live. This is something that everyone must see and hear at least once in their life!
AKI will perform trance inducing Koto songs just for Japan Fest, Festival of Leisure!

Kashi No Ki Kenyu Kai Kendo
Kendo, an evolved form of the traditional Japanese martial art Kenjutsu, integrates the utilization of bamboo swords and protective armor. This martial discipline has garnered considerable acclaim, extending its reach beyond Japan and captivating enthusiasts worldwide. During the Japan Fest event, attendees will be enthralled by an awe-inspiring demonstration presented by the Kashi no Ki Kenyu Kai dojo, which exemplifies the vibrant spirit and essence of Kendo.

Taiko Leicester
Leicester Taiko is an organisation committed to promoting the exhilarating art form of taiko drumming. They aim to promote taiko in all of these different environments for a few reasons: They feel that taiko is a great way of bringing people together; they love the music in both it's traditional setting and in other more innovative styles; and most importantly, taiko is really fun for everybody!
Japan Fest is very happy to have Taiko returning to our event as they were a major hit at Japan Fest Derby!

Greenwood Bonsai
Greenwood Bonsai dates back to 1978! Established by the renowned bonsai artist and author Harry Tomlinson. In 2008 Harry retired and Greenwood Bonsai is now ran by his two sons. I bet you didn't know that just one mile north of Nottingham you would find the largest specialised Bonsai nursery in the UK!
Greenwood Bonsai will be selling a range of products relating to the artistry and passion that is Bonsai.

Japanese Language Fun!
We have a very experienced Japanese teacher that will be giving some very brief introductions to the Japanese Language and how one might ought go about learning the language for themselves or finding a tutor.
You will learn the basic greetings you maybe familiar with but, I would hazard a guess, maybe saying wrong (talking from experience 😆 )

Origami
Origami 折り紙, , from ori meaning "folding", and kami meaning "paper" is the art of paper folding, which is associated with Japanese culture. You will be taken through a step by step process of how to properly make some wonderful origami structures by a wonderful origami teacher!
