Natto Tasting & Talk
John Fahy, with over 50 years of culinary experience, will be showcasing the power of Natto at Japan Fest Buxton. Growing up in a large Irish family and trained in top London hotels, John refined his skills in the army, where he also became a vegetarian. His culinary journey led him to explore Japanese cuisine and the health benefits of fermented foods like Natto. With a master’s degree in Culinary Arts and a doctorate in Public Health, John discovered the vital role of Vitamin K2 in cardiovascular health through the Rotterdam Study. Natto, a fermented soy product, is rich in Vitamin K2, which helps prevent arterial calcification, lower blood pressure, and improve bone health. AKI - Koto
The koto, also called kin, long Japanese board zither having 13 silk strings and movable bridges. The body of the instrument is made of paulownia wood and is about 190 cm (74 inches) long.
It has a very unique sound and is one of the oldest traditional Japanese Instruments. This performance is one that will remain in your memory for a long time after the event, it's a performance you very rarely get to see live. This is something that everyone must see and hear at least once in their life!
JERO11
JERO11 is a metal guitarist that is heavily inspired by traditional Japanese instrumentation (和楽器ギターメタル or Wagakki Guitar Metal🤘🏽🎸). JERO11 is a solo performer using both his 7-string electric guitar and his self-built box shamisen (Japanese Style Banjo). He has been playing guitar for well over 20 years with influences including Steve Vai and Joe Satriani in addition to a variety of J-Rock bands including including The GazettE, Unlucky Morpheus and Wagakki Band (和楽器バンド).

Leicester Taiko is an organisation committed to promoting the exhilarating art form of taiko drumming. They aim to promote taiko in all of these different environments for a few reasons: They feel that taiko is a great way of bringing people together; they love the music in both it's traditional setting and in other more innovative styles; and most importantly, taiko is really fun for everybody!

Origami 折り紙, , from ori meaning "folding", and kami meaning "paper" is the art of paper folding, which is associated with Japanese culture. You will be taken through a step by step process of how to properly make some wonderful origami structures by a wonderful origami teacher!
